Yolanda Santa Cruz: Love is Love

Yolanda Santa Cruz: Love is Love

SKU: 2021-00097.

I created this painting for Pride week 2020. I wanted to state that pride to me is all about being yourself, loving whomever you want, and standing proud for the things you believe in.

Society dictates, in a far from inclusive manner, the way womyn should look, dress, and behave. If you don’t fall into these canons (and most likely you won’t), then this can affect your sense of worth and the way you express and own your sexuality. I believe that sexuality is one of the most primal forces we humans have. With my visual works, I intend to promote female empowerment, explore gender dynamics, and social constructs.

“If we look closely, we might find details in ordinary moments that contain full stories. I find and document these situations, providing my interpretation on that they made me think and feel.”
