I feel that there is a universal appeal in the specific. When I am attracted to a scene or subject, whatever the reason, I believe my connection and emotional attachment will be present in the final painting and resonate with the viewer. Each individual will view it from a perspective based on his or her own life experiences. I am a realistic painter but do not consider myself a photorealist as I interpret and change my subjects, never hiding the fact that the realism of the end result is achieved via a painted image. Brooklyn and New York City are favorite urban subjects, but as a SCUBA diver and nature lover, other themes are appearing in my work.
I most frequently work in gouache and acrylic on canvas or wood.
