Susan Harmon: she imagined lifting off into the sky
$450.00
Medium: mixed on paper. Size: 9inx11in. abstract expressionist painting
My art surfaces are rich in color and texture, coming from my emotional, intellectual, and spiritual states of being. My work is free from the boundaries of traditional picture-making; thus, it is easier to explore my own emotional responses with a splattering of gestural paint strokes on fabric with a hand-sewn border. These works strive to give the viewer calmness and a feeling of Catharsis.

Painting My Truth by Susan Harmon My hope is that my art infects the public .I want my canvases to emote the message that we need to embrace our true selves –, scream our truth through our canvases, no matter how dark and strange they may seem to the world. We need to continue to believe in our dreams — we can change the world, even if it is a slow change that may affect only one person. Any change for the better is a good one, no matter how small it may appear. “If we’re by ourselves we come to feel crazy and alone. We need to make alternate families of small groups of women who support each other, talk to each other regularly, can speak their truths and their experiences and find they’re not alone in them, that other women have them, too…. It makes such a huge difference. “ — Gloria Steinem “Give voice to what you know to be true, and do not be afraid of being disliked or exiled. I think that’s the hard work of standing up for what you see.” –Eve Ensler “It took me quite a long time to develop a voice, and now that I have it, I am not going to be silent.” –Madeleine Albright
