Morning light pours through clementine wedges lighting them up like stained glass. The wedges are done with opaque lines of oil paint while the table cloth is translucent encaustic, reversing an optical expectation.

Through a reexamination of the possibilities of still life painting, I hope to encourage a renewed awareness and interest in observing the simple objects that surround us by contrasting figurative illusion with rich textural application of paint.
