Sophia Francesco is a twenty-year-old emerging regional artist and designer based in New Hope, Pennsylvania. Sophia is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Architecture at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). Sophia’s work can be found locally in galleries such as Up Arts Incubator and New Hope Arts. Her work takes its inspiration from her biological roots in Oaxaca, Mexico and from her adolescence in Bucks County. The theme of identity remains at the core of her paintings, drawings, furniture designs, and architectural conceptualization. Her work strives to capture the qualities, beliefs, and characteristics that formulate one’s identity and the capricious journey that an individual must take. Such expressions are not only explored through the depiction of her personal introspection but also through her ability to resonate with the voices of farmworkers, immigrants, and Indigenous communities. Sophia hopes to become a leading influence for minority artists as she deepens her understanding of art and design. Recently having completed an Arts Education Internship with the James A. Michener Museum, she aims to continue being a role model for students.
