My intention was to capture the wisdom of this old tree. I came upon a stately old tree at Lyndhurst Castle. So, elegant and wise. I painted it.
Listed in Who’s Who in American Art, Sharon Pitts has been painting in watercolor since 1980. She takes her ideas from themes based in nature such as flowers, trees, nests and landscapes. Other themes include cowboy boots, kimonos and Hawaiian shirts. She combines interplay between representation and abstraction with unexpected color combinations and compositions, working with the natural flow of watercolor. Ms. Pitts has a B.A. in Plastic and Graphic Arts from the University of Illinois in Chicago and studied at The Barnes Foundation. She has been teaching watercolor since 1995 and currently teacher at The Montclair Art Museum. Her work is in many private and corporate collections and can be seen at www.sharonpitts.com She has taught workshops in the U.S., Canada, the south of France, Paris, Tuscany and one upcoming in Croatia for 2017.
