Sanford Drob: At the Wall
My paintings represent an attempt to merge the aesthetics and some of the techniques of the “Old Masters” with the spirit of contemporary experience, philosophy, and theology. I believe that representational-narrative art can continue to encourage dialog among these different perspectives without abandoning the creative expression and technical skill of traditional drawing and painting.
My paintings and drawings can be viewed at www.sanforddrobart,com.
In addition to drawing and painting, I am the author of books on topics in philosophy, the Kabbalah, and the psychology of C.G. Jung. I am a practicing forensic psychologist in New York and New Jersey and I am on the faculties of Fielding Graduate University in Santa Barbara and the C. G. Jung Institute in New York.
In “At the Wall,” I represent the plight and courage of a Latin American immigrant mother who seeks a better life for her family, and the barriers, both physical and political that stand in her way. I created the work using Neocolor II water-soluble aquarelle crayons on Artagain recycled paper.
