SANDRA WOLF FINE ART www.sandrawolfart.com Artist Statement Creating art is my passion! I paint in a style which is loose, bold, free, energetic, and colorful, while always remaining mindful of composition, balance, form and light. My joy is to convey a mood and evoke a feeling through color, line, stroke and texture. I prefer subtlety over precision, suggestion rather than exact portrayal, and a hint instead of an overworked statement. In the summer of 2015, I started to take my art in a new direction: away from representational landscapes, still lifes, and photo references. I felt a need to paint from within–from my imagination, emotions, fears and joys. Most of this work has taken the form of abstraction and has been created with pastels, which are well suited to the spontaneity and immediacy needed for this endeavor. Most recently, I have started painting abstracts in oils. I consider myself a Colorist, relying most heavily on hue and value to make my statement and create the moods and atmospheres inherent in each work. About the Artist I have studied oil painting with Lisa Pressman, oil painting and pastels with Anne Kullaf at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, and pastels with Julie Friedman and Casey Klahn. I currently hold memberships in the following professional organizations: Pastel Society of America Pastel Society of New Jersey Studio Montclair Visual Arts Center of New Jersey . My art is, and always will be, about finding my voice.
