These pieces are handmade paper work that reflect my interest in the media and an exploration of working the surface of paper. I am interested in the way paper dries, the materials that can be used to make it, and how I can use it as a canvas and means for creating two and three-dimensional work. Sometimes, the art is an exploration of the tactile, simple beauty of the paper, while other times the work conveys meaning through its imagery. Here, most of the work reflects an interest in the surface of the paper.
Randi Wolfman: Paper Bowls
These are bowls I made from handmade paper and used pastel atop of. They reflect simplicity of form and engender the beauty of the opaque surface of the medium.. I am sending three images, two are drawings with colored pencil on handmade paper. The other is a sculptural handmade paper piece. I work the surface of paper with various technique, specifically drawing on the papers and sculpting with them.
