I was born in a Displaced Persons Camp in Ulm, Germany, I know what it is like to grow up in a family devastated by the horrific and tragic era of WW II. I know what it is like to be an immigrant child growing up in the Bronx NY. I know what it is like not to speak English until my first day in kindergarten. I know what it is like to stand in front of a judge, raise my hand to become a citizen of the United States. As I continue on my life’s journey as visual artist several of my paintings reflect my memories forever branded in my mind. I feel it, see it, and paint it… ‘A 1944 is Auschwitz, ‘He took the Old, the took the Young’ depicts the old and young being transported to their deaths and ‘I Was Born in a Displaced Persons Camp’ depicts my family coming to America.
