I create lyrical interpretations of the landscape. I want the viewer to feel a part of the landscape rather than an observer of it. The attempt is not to recreate a scene but rather to create a sense of place. My paintings are an attempt to give form to my earliest experiences and memories of my time spent in nature, particularly at my family’s summer lake house. Like Innes, I feel that I am seeking to convey the spiritual essence of my subject. This is a never ending process.
