Patti Jordan: Tway-Blade (Corpus 050)
$900.00
Medium: charcoal, Graphite on Fabriano Paper, Ink. Size: 16 x 14 inches. From my WETLAB I am pouring ink across a smooth surface with a large metal rule, producing palimpsests of viscera. I seek the regenerative through my creative process, and in so doing, both the external and internal forces during creation become intertwined. I’m pouring and pulling ink across a smooth paper surface with a large metal rule. Amid application, matter mingles on my substrate in a state of flux. Forms then rapidly darken on my paper rendering the invisible visible. Science is connoted through recurrent imagery resembling hybrid specimens that evoke the natural world and alternate identities.

I seek the regenerative through my creative process, and in so doing, both the external and internal forces during creation become intertwined. I’m pouring and pulling ink across a smooth paper surface with a large metal rule in the initial stages of image production. Amid application, matter mingles on my substrate in a state of flux. The imagery then rapidly darkens on my paper rendering the invisible visible. Science is connoted through recurrent imagery resembling hybrid specimens evoking the natural world, yet not completely recognizable. This repetitive action and its ensuing forms create a conversation between systems of order and intuitive knowledge and play between the extremes of the living and the dead, the animate and the reliquary – palimpsests of viscera. Fluidity thus serves as a construct channeled toward an end means of the symbolic, signifying embodied presence. A certain mystic component lies in these implied transitions between the corporeal and spiritual, between conscious and unconscious worlds. In elucidating such experiential histories, I lend agency toward a liminal space – an absence, to illuminate it.
