Olga Alexander: Feminine Transcriptions On Urban Flesh And Dislocations
I work in many formats, such as collage and sculpture, and gravitate to ubiquitous materials that are culturally loaded such as old sewing patterns, bedsprings, and Plexiglass. As seen in the artworks submitted here, I deconstruct and reconfigure these materials in order to stimulate in the viewer new associations about ourselves, our bodies, and our sense of place in the world. I use Plexiglas for its ability to be both a structure and a support and photo silkscreen my images to suggest that meaning, too is elusive and transient.
