The work in this series is by the gaze of an admirer. Even though I haven?t chosen a godhead yet as my guiding light, I still admire their style and accomplishments. Gods, Deities and Mythical Creatures have occupied, inspired, comforted, controlled and confused humans since there were humans. All one needs to do is look at the enormous amount of art though out history that is of, about or for the Divine. Raised Catholic, I developed a fondness, possibly a fixation on symbolism, the visceral drama and cryptic, secret knowledge it hinted at. The paintings in this series draw on symbols from many belief systems, including pop culture. The full color palate and use of metallic leafs bring an exuberance to these paintings that reference elements as disparate as circus posters, sacred art, tattoos and cartoons.
