What I saw while getting groceries
For many artists, the last time we had an opportunity to get group feedback on our work was in art classes in college or grad school. For me, that was a long time ago – 1977, to be exact.
There’s no question that one-on-one portfolio reviews with “experts” can be useful; so can the advice of family members and friends, whether trained or not. But there is no substitute for the knowledge and encouragement to be gained from one’s peers through candid group discussions – ones that hone your skills and your craft, or even more valuable, that inspire you to take your approach to your art down an entirely new path.
