The feeling of well-being experienced when in the presence of flowers, foliage, gardens, paths to water, can be attested to by almost everyone. For me the reward is doubled when I can paint such a scene, whether I have observed it from life or imagination. The colors in nature exceed anything one can hope to capture on canvas or paper, with paint or pastels, but the act of trying is healing in itself. For the viewer a sense of calm and healing has a profound effect.
