Marisol Ross: The Utz Girl

The Utz Girl is under no ‘glass ceiling to break’, in a Baseball stadium, where there are no ceilings. She is surrounded by notable females from NY, NJ. The Utz girl is the logo for the snack company out of PA, proud sponsor of Major League Baseball and women’s sports. She’s evolved into a symbol of women’s strength. Girl power. Due to the pandemic, no live fans were allowed, only cutouts.

I thought how fun would it be that instead of finding the Utz Girl in the cutout crowd, we see who we find in the East Coast audience. Notable female firsts or New York, New Jersey natives.

Baseball is my happy place.

My aim is to create a series of art that when grouped together would give the sense of being at the stadium viewing a live game. Subjects include vendors and infamous fans in addition to players. I choose genuine, joyful baseball moments. Baseball fans will recognize and remember the captured feelings of these moments.
