Mariette Boerstoel Streefland (StreefArt) I am a contemporary artist, who loves to work with bold colors and various techniques. Working with acrylic paint is my creative and emotional outlet. I greatly enjoy that what materials and colors bring out is to be controlled only to a limited extent, to be surprised with the beauty that emerges. My work is about pieces that excite, please, bring wonder, and put life’s stresses into perspective. Focusing on shape, form, color harmony and interplay I work on creating happy, nature inspired scenes for everyone’s own interpretation. My main medium is acrylic on canvas. All works are non-figurative, using various techniques, with more recently a focus on flowing paint methods and pallet knife applications. For impressions see also: streefart.com
Mariette Boerstoel: My Story
This is an older piece, really reflecting the theme of ‘pages’, where I was in a reflective stage of my life and worked through many magazines over many weeks to create this collage of the many colors and patterns that had defined my life and would be moving forward, while creating something that would unite all my experiences in a (somewhat) logical and attractive pattern.. The theme of ‘pages’ is a great one and really made me think about my portfolio, realizing many of my works fit that theme. As much of what we are doing as artists is creating pages in some sort of diary often only fully understood by ourselves, but in rare, happy moments some of it recognized and valued by the outside world…… I hope studio Montclair will keep this theme alive for future exhibits as I have many more pieces to submit!
