The centerpiece of my work is a series about the refugee crisis. The news of refugees in Europe and Africa affected me deeply with the descriptions of desperate attempts by people willing to endure dangerous crossings to escape harsh political and socioeconomic conditions.  This motivated me to use found images and embroidery to reflect on their humanity. My intention is to create a first impression that reads as purely aesthetic and then challenge that assumption with embedded details that hint at the human condition
