Loura van der Meule: Lobster feast
“Lobster feast” was made after a great birthday dinner. The orange lobsters on top of the Delft’s Blue tablecloth looked so beautiful and reminded me of the still life paintings of the Dutch masters from the seventeenth century. To capture the mood of the old masters, I used darker colors.
I like to work with oil pastels on paper, and the themes of my work are often related to my Dutch culture.
