Lisa Brown: Blue skies above

Lisa Brown: Blue skies above

SKU: 2022-aoa58.

$345.00

Medium: Acrylics, and beads, Mixed Media – specialty paper. Size: 11×14 with frame. Website: http://www.art-as-therapy.com. Bright blue cloud filled sky with field of flowers in the foreground Through exploration and experimentation I found a lively frolicsome expression of nature. I combine a variety of media starting with a dynamic watercolor or an acrylic background and then overlapping it with textured papers which often spill out of the matt. To that I add beads, hand-made papers and paint assembling the work piece by piece into a dazzling finished work of art. The composition is continually changing as I express my love of nature.

Lisa Brown art-as-therapy.com I have a BA in Art and English Education (K-12) from William Paterson University and a MA in Creative Arts Education from Rutgers University along with Continuing Education credits in Art Therapy, Art for at Risk Children, Creative Writing, and Educating the Creative Mind. I studied Art Therapy for 6 years and continually practice my art. I am currently involved in the ?Arts in Healthcare?. I teach courses for the Art Educators of NJ each year bringing them new ideas. I am a certified CJEA (Creative Journal Expressive Arts) assistant supervisor and facilitator in association with Lucia Capacchione, A.T.R., Ph.D. author of 13 books on Art Therapy/Journaling. Her methods are innovative and unique tapping our intuition using the non-dominate hand for journal writing and drawing. I facilitate many programs teaching her methods and wrote ?Beyond the Books? an addendum to her work which she has endorsed. During a long illness I found art to be so rewarding and comforting that I wanted to share it with others. I hope to direct others towards renewing their spirituality, capturing their imagination and channeling their feelings into creative endeavors. I believe that art is therapeutic and helps overcome adversity and pain. In 1996 I created ‘Art as Therapy’ programs in which I direct experiences using a variety of media and methods to help students explore art by expanding their visions. I offer an extensive variety of workshops including journaling with art, watercolors, drawing, mixed media, pottery, sculpture, and ?art as therapy? for adults. I continue to help support patients and their families by giving them the joy of art, the benefit of my expertise, and a sense of self that they can rejoice in. I lead workshops that incorporate themes specific to my support group clientele: cancer survivors, bereavement, the brain injured, as well as the general public. I am an artist and teacher continually experimenting in mixed media exhibiting and selling my art locally while teaching. I have 3 distinct subject matters and media. In my Gardens of Hope I recapture the brilliance of Spring and beauty as it fills us with a sense of relief, marvel, and wonder so that we can enjoy it a little longer. In the Children at Play pieces I capture the innocence of children as they enjoy the outdoors. And in the Texturescapes, I add beads and textured papers with the acrylics to create a embellished scene.
