Linda Steinhardt Majzner: Chat With Mom

Linda Steinhardt Majzner: Chat With Mom

SKU: 2021-00035.

Sculpture in form of teapot. This work is about my mother’s history as a Holocaust survivor, and the many transgressions against her as a young Jewish girl in the notorious Auschwitz Concentration Camp.

My mother died just a few months ago. I made this sculpture before she died to honor her history and strength as a Holocaust survivor. She often told me, once I reached adulthood, about the atrocities she lived through. She told me about these things during moments that we should have been celebrating life; but her memories were tainted with the awful events of hate and destruction against her family and people and herself.
