Before our Covid-19 realities truly set in, I created a series of abstract paintings that focus on the off-shore oil rigs of the North Sea. I was at a time in my life where I was searching for strength and prosperity to working through the realities of unemployment and instability. Using thick bold Shodo-like paint strokes, the abstract representations of the offshore oil rigs stand rigid yet off-balanced; illustrating not only my desire to stay strong while grappling with my feelings of financial insecurity.
