I’ve spent my entire life feeling ashamed of my bigger body. These masks represent how I feel about the way society has made me hate this beautiful body I have been given. It also represents a disconnect I feel from the neck down. It’s important to highlight that even though I am discriminated against for my body type, I am in a place of privilege due to my whiteness. Black women who fit this body type face much more discrimination than I could even begin to try to explain, and it is not my place to try to tell their story.
