The subject of my art is varied and often changes as a response to the times; what’s going on in the world, my thoughts and feelings at the time, and my personal interest at any given time. As much as my attention is drawn to news of the day, I often find that I return to my love of painting reflection, as is shown in these 2 paintings submitted for review. The challenge of rendering reflection and light, whether found in metallic objects, water or glass, always provides me with a sense of satisfaction that consistently brings me back to painting these types of scenes.
Karen Goldberg: Happy Hour
Time and close observation often reveal nuances and details that may be overlooked when a viewer is rushed or disinterested. Painting clear glass forces me to find color, light and shapes that are not apparent at first glance. This challenge is so rewarding to me. Spending time to truly and fully understand what something is and finding the beauty that exists within, is crucial in life and art.
