June He: Unordinary Vision 01

June He: Unordinary Vision 01

SKU: 2021-00015.

I created this artwork in the beginning of 2020, when coronavirus just began to spread. Media outlets were full of grave stories about the virus in different languages. During that time, I compiled information from a variety of newspapers in different communities from NYC, and created collages for this art piece. The fragments of eyeglasses with assorted languages represent the diversity of people’s perspectives, no matter it is because of gender, race, or culture. As a minority female immigrant living in this turbulent year, insecurity and confusions happen to me more often than I expect. I want to use my art to remind viewers to be compassionate, which is more important than ever. Creating this art piece also helps me navigate through the situation and mentality in the current world.
