Judy Gould: Synchronicity II
In my art practice of piecing images together that don’t always seem to belong with each other, I stay grounded by following my intuition. I was drawn to collage by the endless possibilities of repurposing paper.
Bringing seemingly disparate cut and ripped paper imagery together to create unique, whole, and complete worlds — sometimes of strange metaphoric landscapes — I translate inchoate dreams into improvisational and playful terrains of their own.
I am driven by exploring color, line, shape, pattern, and subject matter to experience and inspire surprise, discovery, and delight. My imagery is culled from the onslaught of visual information that flows into our lives every day. I also reuse and incorporate my original inked prints, photo transfers, and magazine papers I sometimes alter with an everyday household product.
