My work looks to nature through an index of shapes that describe emotional equivalents to this world through torque, collision, rhythm and automatic gesture. I embed allusive forms onto a field. These forms are in a state of both emergence and collapse into a space whose primary architecture is composed of handmade marks that point to a focused automatism. The past and future collapse into the present.

My work is abstract but the affinity I share with George Innes is best illustrated with his own words; taken from an essay by Adrienne Baxter Bell: ‘The natural world is continually changing…The true end of art is not to imitate a fixed material condition, but to represent a living motion. The intelligence to be conveyed…is not of an outer fact, but of an inner life.’
