Joan Diamond: Covid #2
Joan Didion famously wrote: “I don’t know what I think until I write it”. The work you see helped me process my thoughts about the global stage of Covid. This is a translation of a drawing made with a variety of marking mediums to fiber. With my dyes, threads, and mono-prints normally I squarely live in a world of colors with my art-making. Early March 2020 I found myself urgently compelled to work in black and white, something I had never done before. Both the colorless palette and the textile drawings are new directions I continue to explore.
