JSDD’s WAE Center (Wellness, Arts, & Enrichment) is an alternative learning center for adults with developmental disabilities. Members explore ways to maximize independence and achieve personal fulfillment through the arts and the community of the WAE.
The Center operates from a core belief that in an environment of unconditional acceptance, mutual respect and shared responsibility, members can explore opportunities for learning, spiritual growth, relationships, and community participation. It is through the study of fine arts, performing arts, and a wide variety of self-determined programming, that these goals are achieved.
The Art Studio offers opportunities for our members to explore creating fine art through painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, jewelry design, and graphic and computer arts. A dynamic staff is essential to the development of cutting-edge programming. The Art Studio staff have professional backgrounds specific to their passions and talents. Student interns and volunteers augment this diverse, creative mix.
