Jacquie O'Brien: Sex Object

Jacquie O’Brien: Sex Object

SKU: 2021-00052.

‘Sex Object’ is a toy that the patriarchy desires but cannot have.

I seek to use the intersection of traditionally unlike materials to discuss the unchecked and rampant misogyny integrated into our daily life. In my piece ‘Sex Object’ I am directly referencing the perceptible injustices suffered by womyn navigating the patriarchal system. This work leans against wall, appearing as a toy to be played with when this misogyny manifests itself. Like myself and other radical feminists, we refuse to be a toy our system understands; instead we exist for our own purposes alone.
