I grew up in East Orange, NJ but have been living in the Washington DC area for over 35 years now. As a kid I spent a lot of time in Montclair. I have been looking for opportunities to show my work in the area I grew up in, so when I came across this opportunity, I was excited about the possibility of returning home to share my artistic journey with all of my hometown community.
Erasto Curtis Matthews: Wind, Fire, Rain
An abstract view of the nostalgic vinyl record ascending towards the clearing sky of a passing storm. The story here is one of color and perspective.. I work mostly in acrylics with some use of watercolors and pastels. I love to explore various painting surfaces including wood, paper and cardboard. I paint with lots of vibrant colors married together in multiple layers.
