In my collages I use different materials and found objects, assemblaging and layering them into new structures. I use objects and materials that had a ‘previous life’, often old, torn or broken, and juxtapose them into new contexts. Deconstructing old works and reconstructing them in space provides for new possibilities and unveils new directions.
Dorit Shmuel: Exploring red
This 12×12′ work, acrylic and mixedmedia on wood panel, is examining the relationships between various shades of reds, some more saturated and others more rusty and old. It reflects on what we accummulate over time, some of which stays with us and other experiences that get forgotten or washed away.
