I am a sculptor now living in Brooklyn. About 8 years ago I decided to make a series of portraits of female sex offenders. I would make them out of clay and paint them with encaustic. Eventually I decided to do portraits of people I knew and then of public figures from movies and elsewhere. I wondered what is it about a face that is so compelling and could an object provoke a fraction of the same interest. From that question I started a series of boxes using images from movies focusing on actresses in particular roles. I am now working on a new series of sculptures of owls and hopefully there will be a brief moment when the viewer imbues them with an inner life of their own. I have recently started working with photographs and drawings as well.
