For me, art making is about the materials and the creative process. It’s an opportunity to experiment and experience the materials as the artwork emerges. Mixed media allows for a variety of choices, it helps the creative process flow as I add layers of paint, paper, charcoal, pastels, thread, and other material on the page. I often work with ephemera because of its organic quality and temporary nature. The paper will fade and show wear over time and there’s beauty in that. It’s a reflection of the changes that all living things go through over time.
