My sculptural textile works, are created intuitively and organically with no preconceptions. They carry a multitude of collective memories. I use natural dyes, sticks, stones and shells along with buttons and other found objects for embellishments. The past human interactions with my materials carry personal histories and connections unknown to us. I invite the viewer to draw their own conclusions and to imagine their own stories in my abstractions.
Ann Vollum: Clustered
Clustered is the second piece in my trilogy, rich rusty browns and textured groupings of poufs are reminiscent of fungal and mushroom growth on the forest floor.
