My name is Alex Polner. I live in Montclair, NJ. I’ve exhibited recently at Art Alliance of Monmouth County, Rowayton (CT) Art Center, SMI and others. I work primarily in graphite, charcoal, and pastel on various types of paper. As a mostly figurative artist, I lean toward capturing subjects that evoke a story– and, when placed in a context can be real or suggestive.
Alex Polner: Checkered Conversation
Inspired by a photo I took in a high-ceiling gallery in NYC, I found that those attending, while speaking in reverent hushed tones, were as interesting as the art they were seeing. I joined the critique group, as I had recently returned to my love of drawing and painting. Through recruitment and encouragement of both Dan and Denis, it has provided a great opportunity to be part of an enthusiastic, supportive community and has benefitted my work greatly in both subject matter and technical craft.
