I fell in love with ceramics, while watching a talented potter demonstrate on a wheel, throwing tall undulating forms that seemed to be alive as they changed shapes. I took my first course in 1986 and set up a studio in my Truro, MA home in 2018. Since then, I have been working with various porcelain and stoneware clay bodies, doing hand building and wheel throwing. Each of my pieces is a unique ornamental and functional art object. I enjoy exploring new forms and techniques, while experimenting with ways to combine my passion for nature with my love of photography, watercolor painting, and pottery. This has led to my newest work – Bird Bowls, which are wheel thrown and hand painted. My bird bowls celebrate the beauty and fragility of song birds, which are disappearing from North America at an alarming rate. Half of my proceeds for their sale support WildCare Cape Cod – a wonderful nonprofit that rehabilitates injured wildlife on the Cape.
