Covid forced me to turn inward – physically and metaphorically. I repurpose photos from my street in Montclair, degrade the images in my kitchen sink, and then rephotograph them, often collapsing or layering them. The technique is low-tech, but it allows me to create atmospheric, pictoral landscapes somewhat in the vein of Inness’s paintings, while also expressing emotions of loneliness, disassociation, etc. in a cathartic and tactile manner.
