For the past several years I have been creating abstract photographs using parts of the human body as metaphor for other forms in nature. The object itself is not manipulated, however, the raw digital image is converted to monochrome and adjusted much like one would do in a traditional darkroom. Occasionally a scenic element or temporary blemish will be removed. except for that these are straight photographs created using lighting, camera and lens placement, and subject pose. Although the viewer might be tempted to figure out what they are seeing, they are encouraged to look further into what the image represents.
