Linda Jacobs: afternoon on the patio

Linda Jacobs: afternoon on the patio

SKU: 2022-95.

archival inkjet print I was fortunate to join Studio Montclair in 2014, and was invited to participate in an SMI four-artist show almost immediately. During the opening reception I was approached and asked if I would be interested in joining a crit group. That was the start of the SMI Photography Critique Group, and we’ve been meeting ever since.

The valuable photographic insights, technical information, honest commentary, benefit of seeing and discussing the work of other photographers, the friendships I have made, and the overall camaraderie have been a constant source of inspiration and reinforcement as I pursue my avocation. Thank you to SMI and our Crit Group members for being an important part of my artistic development.

ARTIST STATEMENT
When I see light illuminating a building or a stairway, sneaking in from the side, articulating the texture of a wall, or highlighting a detail, I feel the urge to reach out and touch it. By capturing the movement of light and making it tangible, I seek to preserve the instant of visual delight. I am pulled in by the imprint of the human species, the interaction of the buildings around us with nature, and the artistic process – these things attract me. Others may capture the untouched landscape….my eye is drawn to the built environment and its inhabitants, expressed in color, pattern, light and shadow.

ABOUT ME
Born in White Plains, New York, I received a B.S. in Design & Environmental Analysis from Cornell, and reside in Maplewood, New Jersey. I am a Design Manager at a NY architectural firm, specializing in architectural interiors.
