Emma Larkin is a multidisciplinary artist based in Montclair, NJ. In this series of process-oriented abstract paintings, she draws inspiration from basic human needs for survival. Each piece begins with a single element or idea, and then undergoes a process of addition and reduction in layers of paint. The visceral texture of the surfaces evokes an ephemeral subject grounded in human physicality, challenging the viewer to reconsider their fragile place in this world.
