As a career writer, my tools were words, thoughts, ideas. Now, as a visual artist, I use paint, marks, intuition. Abstraction is a process of not knowing what comes next, not using a reference, not having a beginning, middle and end. It is little like riding a bicycle with your eyes closed and your hands up in the air. A combination of joy, momentum and recklessness. I present my abstracts with both hubris and humility. I do not shoot for a specific outcome, but they usually seem to come around to my essential joy at being alive.
