I turned a corner in Florence, en route to the Duomo, and stopped in my tracks when my eyes saw this image. I was moved by all of the repetition, the lines, the colors, the density. I’ve seen many photos of the Duomo, but I have never seen it portrayed like this. Florence is a bustling city, filled with people whom I deliberately exclude from my images. A moment of peace in a chaotic place.
